First Post

Hi everyone, I thought my first blog post should tell you a little about me. For as long as i can remember i have been sick, abdominal pain was the main cause of everything. I have had multiple surgeries but no diagnosis for the overall cause.  Just recently after starting my first year of high school i got really sick and was missing 2-3 days a week of school. At first i had dizziness, was lightheaded, nausea, blurred vision, disorientation, and confusion. As the year went on i got worse and worse and started missing even more school. I started blacking out, getting more and more headaches than ever, my stomach pain got worse, my blurred vision and dizziness was the worst it had ever been. Around February they asked me to drop out as i was missing too much school. That was when i really realized something was wrong. But still the doctors were left clueless.

I was sent to a neurologist on an emergency list, they did the tilt table test and right after he told me i had  Postural Orthostatic Tachycardia Syndrome or POTS.  I really didn't understand what it was but after a lot of research i finally got a good grasp on what was happening in my body. Finally everything made sense and i didn't have to worry about it being life threatening.  That was about 2 and a half months ago, since then i have definitely not been improving but i feel like i'm getting worse.  They told me to try life style changes at first, such as increasing my fluid and salt intake and doing small exercises, i've been doing these but i still don't see a change, just feeling even worse. Luckily i go back to the doctor in August and they will see what medicine they might try for me.

I am still getting stomach pain and i am not sure if it is related to POTS because i have had it for many many many years. So that is still something we have to figure out, but one step at a time. Right now we are focusing on POTS.

Thanks for reading xoxo
